Colds are by far the most common illnesses in children (and adults, too). While they can cause serious illness in children, fortunately they are usually quite minor. They do tend to cause a good deal of discomfort, and can be frustrating because not only is there no cure for a cold, there are not many effective treatments for the symptoms, especially in children. There are things you can do as a parent to help your child get through it, be more comfortable, avoid complications, and know when to be concerned about your child’s symptoms.
