The CDC has published the 2011 recommended vaccine schedules for infants, children and teenagers. There are several minor changes and updates to the schedule, most of which went into effect last year. The main change is a booster dose of meningococcal vaccine at 16 years of age. Included in this year’s schedule is the change from last year of replacing the 7-strain pneumococcal vaccine with the 13-strain version, with a new booster dose for children less than 5 years of age who completed their vaccine series with only the 7-strain version.
